Programme for the 2022 Holberg Week

The Holberg Week takes place in the beginning of June as a celebration of the Holberg Prize Laureate, the Nils Klim Prize Laureate. For the 2022 Holberg Week we are offering scholarships for five PhD candidates from the Nordic countries to participate in a masterclass with the Holberg Prize Laureate. Each participants will be asked to prepare a 5-minute presentation related to the theme chosen by the Holberg Laureate, Sheila Jasanoff. The Holberg Week takes place in the beginning of June as a celebration of the Holberg Prize Laureate, the Nils Klim Prize Laureate. During the week you can hear the laureates, as well as other prominent guests from Norway and abroad participate in a series of lectures, panel discussions and other academic events.

Programme for the 2022 Holberg Week

What enabled or compelled women to move in the past? This seminar explores aspects of women’s travel in the Ancient Mediterranean.

  • Lien Foubert, Associate Professor, Department of History, Radboud University Nijmegen

Academic seminar held in honour of the 2022 Nils Klim Laureate and her research. There will be an introduction of the topic by the Nils Klim Laureate, Elisa Uusimäki, followed by presentations by invited guests, a panel discussion and a Q&A session.

Experts are usually seen as skilled in understanding and explaining how the world works, but they do not only represent the world: they help make it.

Science and Technology Studies allows us to rethink the position of the political subject in a mechanized, instrumentalized, yet indeterminate world.

20 upper secondary schools and around 700 students from all over Norway participate in the Holberg Prize School Project each year. The students are assisted by scholars as well as their teachers, and the projects are integrated into the students' regular curriculum. The Award Ceremony is open for anyone who is interested. Please note that most of the event will be conducted in Norwegian.

The Official Award Ceremony for the Holberg Prize and the Nils Klim Prize. The Award Ceremony will be followed by a short reception at Christie Café.  This event is by invitation only, but will be live streamed.

Banquet in honour of the Holberg Laureate and Nils Klim Laureate, hosted by the Norwegian government. This event is by invitation only, and will not be live streamed.

A conversation between 2022 Holberg Laureate Sheila Jasanoff, Harvard University, and Professor Stephen Hilgartner, Cornell University. The event is a collaboration between the Centre for Cancer Biomarkers (CCBIO) at the University of Bergen, and the Holberg Prize.
