The Institute of Psychology's Best Article Prize is awarded annually to a PhD student in our program. The prize is awarded to recognize and acknowledge outstanding scientific research.

How to nominate articles?

The Head of a Department or Research Center at the PSI can nominate up to three articles. The nominations and attachments can be submitted via the online form found at the bottom of this page.

What are the eligibility requirements to be nominated?

Peer-reviewed articles published online or in-print in the current year are qualified for nomination. Articles that have only been accepted will not be considered. The PhD candidate should be the first author of the article (Co-first authorship will also be accepted).

Who can be nominated?

Both internal and external PhD students can be nominated. The PhD student must be enrolled in our PhD program. PhD students who have defended their thesis at PSI in the year the prize is awarded can also be nominated.

Who will evaluate the articles?

A jury consisting of two PSI employees will be appointed by the Head of Research. Guidelines on Conflict of Interest apply. The decision and the basis for the decision will be announced before Christmas. The Prize may not be awarded every year. The Committee should base their evaluation on the general principles for quality assessment outlined in the DORA declaration, and avoid relying heavily on metric indicators such as Impact Factor or the levels based on the Norwegian Publication Indicator. The PhD student's own efforts will be evaluated, together with the article's actual and potential impact, if relevant. Accessibility and transparency in the research process, for example through the efforts of making data, articles and related resources accessible, will be evaluated favourably.

Nomination Deadline:

November 30, 2023

Please note that the nomination must be made through/confirmed by the Head of a Department or a Research Center at the PSI to be considered valid.
