Eric Schmitt, senator for Missouri, said after the speech: 'I think it was a state of delusion, not a State of the Union speech.' While Scott denied it was his intention to gut Medicare and Social Security, the issue has since become a Democrat talking point, finding its way into Biden's contentious State of the Union address Tuesday night.
