ARENA launches online portal on differentiation
Through the project DiCE, ARENA has launched the world's first comprehensive online directory on differentiation and differentiated integration - DifferentiGate.

DiCE is a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme.
DiCE establishes a large, open and inclusive research network designed to ensure that state-of-the-art research on differentiation is translated into policy advice.

As a partner in the Coordination and Support Action (CSA) Differentiation: Clustering Excellence (DiCE), ARENA has for the last few months worked hard to gather and code material for the online directory of differentiation and differentiated integration.
DifferentiGate is an online portal with research on differentiation and differentiated integration. It consists of a publications database and a directory of experts. The publications database collects and categorizes hundreds of academic publications on differentiation and differentiated integration, which have been nominated by the DiCE network, consisting of 100+ experts.
Comprehensive stock-taking
‘An important objective of DiCE is to undertake a comprehensive stock-taking and ensure a proper synthesis of research results on all relevant aspects of differentiation’, says John Erik Fossum, Professor and head of the DiCE team at ARENA.
In cooperation with partners at European University Institute, Istituto Affari Internazionali and University of Exeter, Fossum has developed a differentiation manual, which outlines the relevant analytical dimensions and classifications of differentiation.
The publications on DifferentiGate have been hand-coded according to the differentiation manual. The manual organizes the research on differentiation into different categories, thus providing an understanding of the various facets of differentiation.
On the website, you can search and filter publications along these different categories, policy areas, methodology, country/regions and more.
An important objective of DiCE is to undertake a comprehensive stock-taking and ensure a proper synthesis of research results on all relevant aspects of differentiation.
