Position description

As a senior lecturer at MDU, your main responsibilities include teaching. Teaching also encompasses supervision, examination, course evaluation, and course development. At our institution, research and education are closely intertwined, with research forming the foundation for our educational programs. Collaboration is also an integral part of our research and educational mission, and as a university lecturer, you actively contribute to the university's development efforts. General administration, professional development, and participation in the daily operations of the subject and the academic community are also part of your duties.

In this position, you will be involved in teaching both program students and professionals, providing guidance to students and doctoral candidates alike. You will play a key role in shaping research proposals and implementing research projects, collaborating with external academic and industrial partners. Furthermore, you will contribute to the further development of production-related educational programs, with a focus on increasing aspects such as battery production and electric vehicle manufacturing.

Qualification requirements

We are looking for you who partly have documented teaching skills and partly have a degree of Doctor, or equivalent academic competence or other professional qualifications of significance with regard to the subject content of the appointment and the duties included in the appointment.

To be qualified for appointment as a Senior Lecturer you must have demonstrated the academic skills and teaching abilities required for the appointment.

Teaching skills and academic competence shall be well documented in such a way that their quality can also be assessed.

In order to be employed as a teacher at MDU, training in higher education teaching and learning, or equivalent acquired knowledge, is required. A person appointed as a Senior Lecturer but lacking training in higher education teaching and learning will be offered in-house training within two and a half years. The course in higher education teaching and learning at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of training.

In addition to the established basic eligibility requirements, according to the Appointment Regulations for MDU, some additional requirements apply to this position.

We are looking for candidates with a doctoral degree in production engineering, industrial economics and organization, industrial technology, mechanical engineering, automation, or equivalent fields. You should have documented experience in research collaboration with academic and industrial partners in the field of industrial automation. Additionally, you must have experience in the production of electrical components/batteries. Knowledge and experience in both education and research related to robot programming and the integration of human-robot interaction in automation are essential requirements.

For this position, proficiency in spoken and written Swedish is necessary at a level sufficient to carry out regular tasks related to research, teaching, and administration. If Swedish language skills are lacking, employment may still be possible provided that the candidate has the ability to actively acquire these skills. Fluency in English is also a requirement for teaching and conducting research.

We are looking for candidates with experience in:

  • Planning, Implementation, and Development of Courses for working professionals
  • Supervision of Doctoral Candidates and Contribution to Research Education
  • Project Management
  • International Collaborations in Research and Education
  • Building Demonstrators/Laboratory Environments
  • In an overall assessment of suitability, emphasis is also placed on personal abilities. All employees at MDU are expected to cooperate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for the organisation and their own work duties and contribute to a positive work environment.
