About the role

Rights of priority for re-employment at Mälardalen University Other

Have you received a notice from Mälardalens University that you have a right of priority for re-employment? If so, you can submit your claim here.

Who is eligible to claim the right of priority for re-employment?

If you have been dismissed due to shortage of work or if your fixed-term employment has ended, you can under certain conditions be eligible to claim your right to priority for re-employment.

There are three conditions for priority for re-employment; you have met the required length of employment mentioned below, you have sufficient qualifications for the new position, and you have submitted a request to claim your right of priority for re-employment.

The eligible to claim rights of priority for re-employment is regulated by the Employment Protection Act (Lagen om anställningsskydd).

Qualification period for re-employment rights

The qualification period for the right of priority for re-employment depends on the type and length of your employment. You will receive a written notice from MDU where your eligibility for re-employment and the conditions that apply are stated.

To qualify for general reemployment rights, you must have:

  • Been employed at MDU for a total of more than twelve months within the past three years.
  • For employment according to 5.1 § (LAS), special fixed-term employment (Särskild visstidsanställning, SÄVA) you are entitled to re-employment in a new SÄVA position if you have:

  • Been employed at MDU in a special fixed-term position (SÄVA) for more than nine months within the past three years.
  • How do I claim my right priority for re-employment?

To claim your right to reemployment, you must actively register your interest through the recruitment system ReachMee.

Ensure that the documents you are submitting are updated – both when you register your interest as well as afterward – as they are necessary for assessing your qualifications, preferences and how to contact you.

What do I need to think about?

A claim for the preferential right to re-employment means that:

  • The preferential right to re-employment applies for nine months after your last day of employment.
  • The constitutional requirement of objective grounds (merit and competence) for governmental employment contracts takes precedence over priority for reemployment.
  • Should you choose to decline an offer of employment deemed reasonable, your right to preferential re-employment will be considered forfeited.
  • Questions and contact
