At the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering our students are studying to be for example innovators, entrepreneurs, illustrators, information designers, network technicians and engineers. We have five research specializations with different research profiles and research schools. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.

A full-time employment as a doctoral student is attached to this third-cycle studies which corresponds to four years.
Position descriptionThe PhD position is part of a funded research project focused on resilient and robust microgrid systems. Microgrids offer significant potential for advancing sustainability; however, their integration also introduces critical challenges in ensuring robust cybersecurity. As these decentralized energy systems rely on advanced technologies and interconnected networks, they become increasingly vulnerable to cybersecurity threats, which can undermine their resilience and reliability. This project aims to address these challenges by emphasizing the importance of secure and dependable microgrid systems.
The PhD student will undertake the following major tasks:

Prior to employment, consideration must be given to the ability to assimilate third-cycle courses and study programmes at a higher education. We are looking for a student with a background in electrical engineering, computer systems, or related disciplines. We will use the following assessment criteria:
- Strong background in Computer Science - Good knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms - Good knowledge of computer networking - Understanding of intrusion detection systems and network security - Strong programming skill (e.g. Python, C/C++, etc) - Sufficient proficiency in oral and written English
