Sustainability; Make it easy to walk the walk
BLOG
The University of Copenhagen has been serving society with knowledge and innovative solutions since 1479. The issues have changed over time, but the tireless effort to address them has not. Climate change and sustainability are some of today’s most pressing issues, calling for wide-ranging engagement and action.
At an institution like UCPH, wide-ranging engagement in climate issues includes researchers, staff, students and collaboration with a host of parties outside the University. There will always be those who are truly dedicated to a cause, but if you want to turn something into a cause for the many, you need to think about accessibility – making it easy to make a difference and walk the walk.
SDG-related courses and activities at UCPH
In this edition of our newsletter, you can read about UCPH courses that focus on various aspects of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's). The courses are featured on the Sustainability Science Centre website, and categorised under the SDG's to which they relate, making it easy for students to get a quick overview.
Our local and international students also have plenty of opportunities to join sustainability activities outside the classroom. For example through the Student House ‘Studenterhuset’, which many students already know and use. Studenterhuset and the University of Copenhagen have joined forces and opened Actory - an initiative initiated and driven by students aiming to support students in the development and implementation of sustainable solutions. You can read more about the Actory programme in this newsletter issue.
Sustainability when travelling on exchange
In International Education at UCPH we are currently working on giving our outbound students information on partner universities with sustainability courses and activities they can join. We are also going to provide information on how they may travel more sustainably to their study abroad destinations, inspire them and help them reflect on their actions while abroad.
If your institution has courses or activities that we could highlight to our students, or if you have questions regarding sustainability initiatives at UCPH, please feel free to contact us at International Education. We look forward to working with you to make knowledge and action accessible to our students.
