Callie Holley (Tisch ‘22) has been selected as a 2022 Marshall Scholar, which provides financial support to outstanding American scholars to pursue graduate study in the United Kingdom in any subject at the academic institution of their choice.
The Marshall Scholarship is one of the most selective postgraduate fellowships for American undergraduates and seeks to strengthen the enduring relationship between the British and American peoples, their governments, and their institutions. The scholarship program, which funds two years of study, receives more than 1,000 applications from top students representing higher education institutions across the United States. Up to 50 scholars are selected each year.
Callie Holley is a multidisciplinary storyteller from Houston, TX. As a published author and motivational speaker of over 10 years, she has dedicated herself to community-building and underprivileged youth empowerment. Now a senior at New York University, her creative work endeavors to create stories of the Black Diaspora that contextualize and preserve Black pasts and present new possibilities for Black futures. As a Marshall Scholar, Callie will pursue an MA in Black Studies from the University of Birmingham and an MA in Producing for Film and Television from Royal Holloway University of London.
Callie was one of four NYU finalists for the Marshall Scholarship and is the only NYU recipient of the award this year. Callie is the fourth NYU student to receive the Marshall Scholarship in the last three years, with NYU having at least one Marshall Scholar in each of the last three Marshall cohorts.
