Job description

Are you an excellent teacher in finance and accounting? Do you have the passion to teach a range of courses in the area of finance and accounting that prepare students for a successful career? Do you like to develop education, with a focus on cases that show students the practical relevance of the content?

JobDescription We are looking for a University Teacher for the Operations, Planning, Accounting and Control (OPAC) group (between 0.5 and 1.0 FTE). The OPAC group is part of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e)'s Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences Department, which has a worldwide reputation for high quality research and excellent educational programs. The OPAC group helps stakeholders across sectors to make smart, informed decisions, thereby contributing to more efficiency, enhanced (environmental) sustainability, better use of resources and reduced costs. The research of the group deals with the control of operational processes, which can be related to supply chains, manufacturing systems, high-tech equipment, distribution, transportation, warehousing, retail, and service processes such as equipment maintenance.

You will design and teach high-quality courses in the areas of finance and, especially, management and financial accounting. You are especially interested in designing realistic cases that can be used in the courses and that show students the practical relevance of the things they learn. Courses are mainly taught in the Bachelor program Industrial Engineering and the Master program Operations Management and Logistics. Also students from other programs at TU/e, mostly Bachelor programs, may decide to follow these courses. You will also be involved in supervising bachelor end projects and potentially guiding master thesis projects.

Job requirements

We offer a stimulating and ambitious educational and research environment and are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • You hold a Master's degree in the field of accounting, financial management, (business) economics, or a comparable domain (preferably also a PhD degree).
  • You have the ability to teach and to design courses, shown by experience in teaching and positive evaluations of these teaching efforts.
  • You have good communication skills.
  • You have excellent proficiency (written and oral) in English.
  • Conditions of employment
  • A fixed term employment for 12 months with the possibility for a permanent employment after 1 year.
  • A meaningful job in a dynamic and ambitious university with the autonomy to participate in the curriculum of the department.
  • You will have free access to high-quality training programs for academic leadership, the university teaching qualification program, and a dedicated mentoring program to help you get to know the university and the Dutch (research) environment.
  • Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities.
  • Additionally, an annual holiday allowance of 8% of the yearly salary, plus a year-end allowance of 8.3% of the annual salary.
  • A broad package of fringe benefits, including excellent technical infrastructure, moving expenses, and savings schemes.
  • Family-friendly initiatives are in place, such as the Dual Career Opportunity program to support accompanying partners, an international spouse program, and excellent on-campus children daycare and sports facilities.
  • Information and application
