Job description

you to join our enthusiastic Education and Student Affairs team as Team lead
for 0,8 to 1,0 FTE.
As a team we are responsible for all support of all education (both
Bachelor's and Master's) of the department. Behind the scenes, it provides a
well-coordinated curriculum, study schedule, evaluation and improvement of
courses, organization and coordination of education and, of course, academic
advising.
In this position you will be part of the Education and Student Affairs (ESA)
team of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME). The Team Lead of the
Center for Academic Advising ME reports to the Manager ESA of ME.
Job description
As academic advisors, you (70% of your time) and your team will fulfil the
following tasks, among others:
Advising students based on single intervention on study attitude, pace of
study, planning and tackling study problems, personal problems and, if
necessary, ensuring referral to other professionals;
Monitoring the study progress of both bachelor's and master's students;
Informing students about study-related matters in personal meetings,
though different communication channels and in information session;
Advising on binding study advice for first-year students;
Advising the program directors and the examination committee on requests
from students and incorporating these in process and policy advice;
Advising the program directors on the scope and application of relevant
regulations and upcoming changes to them;
Participating in university-wide consultation structures and working
groups regarding student guidance, policy, organization and educational
innovation.
As a team lead (30% of your time) you will fulfil the following tasks, among
others:
Supporting team development of a team of 7 to 8 academic advisors
(including this position);
Draft a multi-annual capacity and development plan for your team,
including recruitment, onboarding, annual reviews and training of staff;
Advising program management on the programming of student guidance & well-
being;
Reporting on trends in student guidance, in example causes for study
delay;
Participating in the university-wide committee on the strategy and vision
of student guidance, part of the Student Guidance Chain;
Be an active member of the ESA ME management team, in example making a
joint strategic employee planning together with the Manager ESA-ME.
Job requirements
We are looking for an academic advisor which is also the team lead.
You have an academic working and thinking level and an affinity with STEM
(a STEM background is an advantage);
You have at least 3 years experience as academic advisor (or similar
function);
You have good face-to-face and (preferably) online communication skills
and are able to use the right conversation techniques at the right time;
You have a well-developed empathic ability and a certain natural
preponderance;
You have excellent analytical skills and organizational sensitivity;
You are a team player, are result-oriented and have a good organizational
ability;
Naturally, you have an excellent command of the English language, both
spoken and written and are willing to learn Dutch to a level to understand
our student-legal texts.
Conditions of employment
We offer:
A position for 32-40 hours a week (0.8-1 fte), starting with a temporary
appointment for 1 year, with the possibility of extension or, upon proven
suitability and continuation in the position, a permanent employment
contract is entered into immediately following this period;
A salary, depending on education and experience, of a minimum of € 3974,=
and a maximum of € 5439,= gross per month (scale 11 in accordance with
the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch universities (CAO NU)) in
case of full-time employment;
In addition to good primary conditions, there are also excellent fringe

pay, etc. In addition, you will receive an annual 8% holiday allowance, an
end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 41 days of leave in the case of full- time
