The Institute of Clinical Sciences is one of six Institutes within Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. We conduct research and education that puts people's health and quality of life in focus. We represent 16 different research areas and are divided into four sections. Through a fruitful collaboration with the healthcare and Sahlgrenska University Hospital, we have developed joint projects and meeting places that benefits both health care and research

The GastroIntestinal Metabolism Science lab (GIMS) is part of the Department of Surgery at the Institution of Clinical Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy. The research group is led by Professor Ville Wallenius and conducts translational research on obesity mechanisms based on the physiology of the small intestine and the mechanisms activated during bariatric surgery, especially the hormonal mechanisms that originate from the enteroendocrine cells of the small intestine.

Duties

As researcher, you will carry out translational molecular biology research with regard to the physiology of the small intestine and the impact of different diets on the function of the enteroendocrine cells in the small intestinal epithelium. The work also includes the analysis and interpretation of research data, as well as the writing of scientific reports and articles.

Qualifications

A PhD in Biomedicine or a related field is required for the position. We are looking for a researcher with extensive laboratory experience and skills in common molecular biology techniques, such as Western blot, RNA techniques, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, and bioinformatics.

Experience with animal experiments is required, along with the necessary certification and authorization to conduct such studies. Other qualifications are excellent oral and written English language skills, proven ability to write coherent scientific text. The position requires collaboration with colleagues, but ability to generate and pursue research ideas independently will be essential.

Employment

The employment is limited (temporary) for 4 months, 100 % of full-time and is placed at the department of Surgery the Institute of Clinical Sciences. Starting date: 2025-03-01.
