Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment We are looking for an early career researcher with postdoctoral

experience to join our group.

About the position

You will have the opportunity to develop and run your own research program in collaboration with other researchers working in the areas of water quality, sensors, hydrology, modeling, ecosystem services and stakeholder engagement. We are looking for a scientist who has published in the scientific literature, been successful in competitive financing calls and who has an international network of research collaborators. Your main responsibility is to develop and lead an externally funded research program in catchment science. The main tasks include securing funding, conducting research and presenting results to stakeholders and the scientific community.

Candidates will be assessed on how well they meet a set of mandatory and desirable criteria.

Your profile

We are looking for someone with postdoctoral experience and a desire to further develop their research career. We are particularly interested in researchers who use interdisciplinary approaches to address societal challenges.

Required qualifications;

  • PhD in environmental science or other related discipline
  • Experience in post-doctoral research
  • Success in national or international competitive research funding calls
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English and Swedish
  • Desired qualifications;

  • Experience with rainfall, runoff and water quality models (e.g. SWAT, HYPE, INCA, HBV, etc.)
  • Experience in operating high-frequency sensor networks
  • Experience in project management and project coordination
  • Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Strong scientific and stakeholder network
  • Experience in university teaching
  • Consultation/advice to stakeholders and authorities
  • Design and coordination of field sampling campaigns
  • Driving license valid for use in Sweden

    The Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment is working with applied environmental science, with a national responsibility for assessing the condition of Swedish surface waters with respect to water chemistry, pollution and aquatic biota. The research focuses on geochemical and hydrological processes, aquatic ecology and biodiversity, microbial ecology as well as on environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology. The department has about 150 employees, of which approximately half are researchers/doctoral students and the other half are technical and administrative staff.
