The University of Gothenburg tackles society's challenges with diverse knowledge. 56 000 students and 6 600 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract researchers and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future.

Core Facilities is a university-wide Life Science research infrastructure located at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. Here you have access to some of Sweden's most advanced techniques and analysis tools for research in eg. medicine, biomedicine and clinical studies. All our units have strong national and international profiles and are part of national research infrastructures such as SciLifeLab. The units at Core Facilities are equipped with advanced instrumentation and highly competent and specialized staff. Next to highly qualified research support, our experts also offer theoretical education and practical courses. Our infrastructure is open to all researchers from Swedish and international institutions as well as private industry.

Are you looking for an exciting multi-disciplinary bioinformatic and data challenge? The Proteomics Core Facility is an open access facility organized within the Core Facilities, Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, www. cf.gu.se. The Facility is a biological mass spectrometry (MS) platform that provides scientific expertise and advanced instrumentations for high quality research support. The MS platform is part of the national BIOMS infrastructure, www. bioms.se, supported by the Swedish Research Council as well as a part of the SciLifeLab national resource of unique technologies, www. scilifelab.se, in the unit Glycoproteomics and MS Proteomics.

The Proteomics Core Facility offers a wide range of proteomic studies based on large MS data sets for quantification and comparisons as well as specialized data sets in glycomics and glycoproteomics. We use Orbitrap and tims-TOF instruments interfaced with nano-LC systems to answer advanced biological questions, for discovery of biomarkers and pathways associated with various diseases. We also improve the biological understanding by supporting the site identification and characterization of glycosylations. Recently we increased the focus in the area of Clinical Proteomics and Precision Medicine.

The team at the facility has biological, medical, technical and natural science background and our daily work is more and more dependent on progress in advanced softwares, scripts, programming, data transfer etc. Our workflows, data handling, processing, MS data analysis, interpretation, data sharing and so on, would benefit from teamwork with a multi-disciplinary scientific computer specialist being able to assist in many parts of the facility work. Your contribution will be important for life science, medical and biological developments.

The role requires an individual that is passionate about computer system development and delivery of software solutions for pipelines and processing to data analysis and interpretation. The role includes supporting, driving and evolving our capabilities in quantitative proteomics and characterization of protein glycosylations. We are further looking into capabilities in precision medicine, clinical proteomics and multi-omics (e.g. transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) and you will interact with a multi-disciplinary team of data scientists in our network and infrastructure.
