The Department of Psychology is seeking two research assistants for work in neuropsychology

Duties

We are seeking two research assistants who will work on a project titled: "Reprogramming the brain: investigating the dynamics of rapid brain plasticity with high-resolution MRI". The advertised positions focus on using structural and functional MRI at 7 Tesla to investigate the time scale, maintenance, and individual predictors of brain plasticity when learning a new motor task.

As research assistant, you will handle recruitment of participants and data collection. Duties related to the recruitment of participants include: carrying out telephone interviews of potential research candidates, screening for eligibility to take part in the study, sending out information about the study, meeting participants to provide detailed information about the study, handling informed consent. Duties related to data collection include: collecting demographic information, conducting and supervising computer-based cognitive testing, instructing participants concerning the MRI scanning procedure, booking them in for scanning session(s), carrying out the MRI scanning. Appropriate safety and scanning training will be provided at the 7T national facility, part of the Lund BioImaging Center (LBIC). Data collection will take place in Lund.

Qualifications

We are looking for two individuals for positions as research assistants for a research project based in Lund in neuropsychology, with a special focus on neuroimaging.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, or related discipline.
  • The data collection will take place in Lund, therefore it is highly advantageous if you have the possibility to travel to Lund on a weekly basis.
  • Must be eligible to work in an MRI environment (no metallic implants or other MRI contraindications).
  • Flexibility to work during weekends or possibly afternoons, as data collection will primarily take place during these hours to accommodate research participants.
  • Ability to quickly learn and operate technical equipment and software systems.
  • Proficiency in using Excel spreadsheets.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken, in English are necessary since we work in an international environment.
  • Good communication skills are also vital as you will be the first and main contact person for research participants. Proficiency in Swedish is meritory. Previous experience in cognitive testing, data collection, participants' testing, and/or MRI scanning is desirable. Previous experience in a research laboratory setting is advantageous. Experience with systematic data organization and basic data management is meritory.
