The Faculty of Technology (FTK) has a wide range of activities spanning across nine different departments through which Linnaeus University provides education and conducts research. The education offers at the faculty of technology cover everything from short courses of a few weeks or month to five-year civil engineering programs. The research responds to society's needs in several broad fields - both in the short and long term - with basic research and applied research in collaboration with society's actors.

The department of informatics consists of approximately 30 employees, and we aim to further grow with a postdoctoral researcher. Within the department of informatics, research is conducted with a focus on the design and use of information technology across individual, organizational, and societal settings. Active research areas are linked to our education programs and have different focuses that overlap, namely: Data-driven business innovation, Systems thinking and Interaction design. Informatics has six education programs at basic and advanced level. Several of the courses are conducted remotely both nationally and internationally. Informatics also has independent courses as well as teaching and research collaboration with other faculties, above all within Knowledge Environment Linné: Digital transformations.

Subject area for the position: Informatics Location until further notice: Kalmar or Växjö. Since Linnaeus University is located in both Växjö and Kalmar, travel between the two may be required. Hours and term: Full-time for 2 years Starting date: Starting date as agreed upon or a specified date.

Job description We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team and contribute to our ongoing EU projects focused on applied digitalisation across different settings. The successful candidate will engage in collaborative activities across several projects, addressing various aspects of digitalisation. The position offers an excellent opportunity for interdisciplinary research and professional growth.

Your work as a postdoc will primarily consist of research in informatics with a focus on applied digitalisation. You will be expected to participate actively in the department's knowledge environment and networks, both internally and externally.

Within research activities, we expect from a successful candidate to be engaged on:

  • Conduct research related to applied digitalization with a focus on data collection, analysis and dissemination of digitalization affects across different settings.
  • Collaborate with project teams, stakeholders, and other researchers within informatics.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Participate in project meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  • Assist project coordinators in organizing and running project meetings.
  • Teaching and supervision, comprising no more than 20% of the total workload, may be included among your duties.

    Qualifications Anyone who has a doctorate in informatics, computer and information science, information systems or equivalent, or who has a degree from another country that is equivalent to a doctorate in computer and information sciences, qualifies for the position.

    In accordance with the postdoc agreement, applicants who were awarded their degree no more than three years prior to the last application date for the present position should be considered first.

    An applicant must not previously have been employed as a postdoc for more than a year within the same or a related subject area at Linnaeus University.

    Assessment criteria The assessment criteria for the position include:

  • Research Experience : Documented experience in conducting research project work related to applied digitalization. Expertise in qualitative data analysis and presentation is highly valued.
  • Interdisciplinary Skills : Documented ability to work across disciplines and collaborate effectively with researchers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Project Management : Documented experience of organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks within project timelines.
  • Communication skills : Proficiency in written and spoken English. Ability to present research findings and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. Ability to communicate in Swedish will be considered as advantageous.
  • Passion for Education : A genuine interest in advancing teaching and pedagogical capacities and contributing to educational offer within the department.
  • When the university employs new teachers, the choice should fall on those applicants who, based on a qualitative holistic assessment of competence and skills, are considered most likely to successfully perform and develop relevant tasks and contribute to successful development of the organisation.
