Join our dynamic team as the Managing Coordinator for the department of Industrial Design (ID) and the department Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences (IE&IS)! We're seeking a driven and pragmatic Coordinator who can support the Managing Director by overseeing projects, streamlining processes, and collaborating with the service teams. This role gives you the opportunity to develop and grow in our departments.
Departments
The Department of Industrial Design (ID) is one of the nine departments of TU/e and has an internationally leading position because of its core commitment to research through design (RtD) and its strikingly original conceptual work. ID's ambition is to be recognized as one of the top departments in the world that conduct exciting research in the intersection of Design, Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, and Social Sciences and Humanities. In particular, the department aims to inspire and educate a new generation of design engineers who can contribute with their novel designs, their fluency in AI/ML algorithms and data, and their academic critical questioning, to the imminent and complex societal challenges our world is facing nowadays.
The department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences aims at being a European frontrunner in research and education on leading responsible and effective technology development and implementation in industry and society. IE&IS mission is to integrate social sciences and humanities with engineering research, resulting in high quality scientific output and in excellent educational programs, that create meaningful technology-based impact for the contemporary challenges of industry, government, and society. As a part of Eindhoven University of Technology, research and education in the department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences focuses on gaining knowledge on and designing solutions for complex industrial and societal challenges arising from the interplay between new key enabling technologies (e.g., robotics, artificial intelligence, green energy and high-tech systems) and humans, companies and society at large.
Key responsibilities
As Managing Coordinator, you support the Managing Director in organizing the business operations of our two departments in alignment with university and department guidelines, frameworks, and procedures. The key responsibilities include:
In this role you are expected to have a strong ability to empathize with the various scientists and professionals with diverse disciplinary backgrounds. In both departments, a lot of research is done to address the grand societal challenges in general and in particular developing a more sustainable world. You possess a well-developed level of social intelligence. You can quickly grasp complex matters, prioritize effectively, and persuade others by carefully balancing interest and (financial) feasibility.
