The School of Computer and Mathematical Sciences is looking for a continuing Lecturer (B) or Senior Lecturer (C) in applied mathematics. We seek a strong researcher and committed educator to join our team of active researchers in dynamics, modelling and computation, and related areas. Our research is highly interdisciplinary and involves collaboration with scientists, engineers, and industry.

To be successful at Level B you will need:

  • PhD in mathematical sciences or equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrated research ability that supports the School's research strengths in dynamics, modelling and computation, or a related field
  • Record of research achievements as evidenced by publications in high- quality journals or conference proceedings
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively using evidence-based pedagogy that promotes student engagement
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English with both students and staff
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to carry out administrative duties, as directed by the Head of School, effectively and efficiently
  • Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, and ability to contribute to the diversity of the School community
  • To be successful at Level C you will also need:

  • Substantial record of research achievements as evidenced by publications in high-quality journals or conference proceedings
  • Demonstrated ability to win significant research funding
  • Substantial record of success in effective teaching using evidence-based pedagogy that promotes student engagement and as course coordinator
  • Record of successful curriculum development or pedagogical innovation
  • Demonstrated ability to attract and supervise postgraduate students
  • Enjoy an outstanding career environment
