The appointed doctoral student shall be present at the Department of Business Administration and actively participate in research and educational activities.

Doctoral studies encompass four years of full-time study, and leads to a doctoral degree.

As part of your employment as a doctoral student, you may have departmental duties of up to 20% of full-time, which results in a corresponding extension of the studies. Departmental duties usually involve teaching at bachelor's and master's levels but may also include research and administration.

The position is part of the programme "Labour Market Challenges of Green Transition in West Sweden: Electrification and the Transition of the Automotive Cluster."

The automotive industry in Western Sweden is undergoing a transformation towards electrification. This research programme aims to investigate the labour market and welfare effects of this green transition and how regional actors manage change processes and potential societal challenges. This PhD position pertains to subprojects 1 and 3 (more information about the research programme can be found here: https: // www. gu.se/forskning/arbetsmarknadsutmaningar-av-gron-omstallning-i- vastsverige-elektrifieringen-och-omstallningen-av-fordonsklustret).

The project will study how companies in the automotive industry, together with public actors within the ecosystem for education and the labour market (such as municipal upper secondary education and adult education, as well as other actors), collaborate to provide the necessary skills for the green transition in the automotive industry. Research questions the project aims to answer include what types of actors and collaborations are emerging within the education and labour market system, how these actors work together, and what consequences this has for matching, re-skilling, and learning in working life. An increased demand for labour in the automotive industry is also expected to exacerbate existing challenges in recruiting sufficient personnel, not only for the industry but also for the public sector. Therefore, the electrification of the automotive industry is assumed to have far-reaching consequences for the regional labour market as a whole, with the goal that the green transition is implemented in a way that also ensures a socially sustainable transition for all residents of the region.
