This employment will be placed within the Financial Ethics Research Group, which consists of philosophers and economists exploring ethical and political issues raised by the financial system. More specifically, the employment is financed by the research project Science-Based Metrics for Sustainable Finance (Vinnova), with support from the research programs Sustainable Finance Lab (Vinnova) and Mistra Finance to Revive Biodiversity (Mistra). Project leader is Joakim Sandberg, professor of practical philosophy.

Subject area descriptionFinancial ethics is the application of concepts, methods and theories from practical philosophy to critical issues in financial practices and systems. This employment more precisely concerns issues about how financial practices and systems can and ought to contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable society.
Job assignmentsThe position provides the researcher with an opportunity to solidify and develop his or her scientific skills through conducting research in financial ethics with relevance for sustainable finance. The researcher is expected to spend most of his or her employment on research and coordination within the project Science-Based Metrics for Sustainable Finance. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with other researchers in the Financial Ethics Research Group and adjacent research programs. The researcher is expected to actively participate in group-related seminars, events and other activities. He or she is expected to carry out the vast majority of the research in Gothenburg and to participate in a regular and consistent manner in the department's other relevant research activities.
EligibilityEligible for the position is anyone that holds a Ph.D. degree in practical philosophy, or equivalent competence from another subject area.
AssessmentThe most important ground for assessment is scientific knowledge and skill of relevance to the research questions and interests of the Financial Ethics Research Group and the relevant research project. Merits are demonstrated by written account of earlier research experience and scientific publications of relevance for the position. Publications can include works “in the pipeline”, i.e. drafts close to be submitted to a scientific journal, or submitted but not yet accepted manuscripts.
