The research subject 'Operation and Maintenance Engineering' conducts research and education in operational safety, asset management and risk management. The subject's research team 'Industrial AI & eMaintenance' develops technologies, methodologies and tools based on emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, for advanced analysis of complex technical systems.

The Division of Operation and Maintenance Engineering currently has about 40 employees, which in turn is part of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering (SBN) with about 430 employees. To strengthen research activities and teacher competence in industrial AI, eMaintenance and asset management, we are now looking for a senior lecturer.

Subject description Operation and maintenance engineering includes the development of methods, models and tools to ensure high operational reliability and efficient maintenance of both existing and new systems and facilities.

Duties The work will include, among other things:

  • Conduct research within Asset Management, Industrial AI and eMaintenance
  • Implementation and participation in research projects within Asset Management, Industrial AI and eMaintenance
  • Development and design of applications
  • Work within the eMaintenance LAB
  • Teaching, such as Asset Management, Industrial AI and eMaintenance courses.
  • Work with the International Industrial AI and eMaintenance Congress and workshop
  • Publication and dissemination of scientific material

    Qualifications Qualified for an appointment as associate senior lecturer are those who have been awarded a doctoral degree Operation and Maintenance Engineering or have equivalent scientific qualifications.

    In the first instance, those considered for employment should have completed a doctoral degree no more than five years before the end of the application period. If there are special reasons, the doctoral degree may have been completed earlier. By special reasons means leave due to illness, parental leave, clinical service of trust, or similar circumstances.

    Further, the following technical qualifications are required:

  • have actively engaged in research and development work that has attracted attention and recognition
  • Deep expertise in asset management and eMaintenance
  • Good knowledge of software development
  • Experience of knowledge transfer between university and industry
  • Experience of development in a cloud environment
  • Experience in developing asset management solutions using UNITY for various VR and AR devices integrated with cloud environment
  • Experience in developing different frameworks/models to provide asset management in different industrial domains
  • Experience in developing different courses
  • Assessment criteria The following assessment criteria apply to this position:

  • Scientific expertise
  • Teaching expertise
  • Expertise in industrial AI and eMaintenance
  • Asset management Expertise
  • Documented experience of designing research applications to different research funders
  • Documented experience of teaching at university level and course development
  • Other assessment criteria:

  • the degree of expertise required for qualification
  • administrative proficiency that is of value in view of the subject matter and the duties included in the appointment
  • the ability to collaborate with the wider community
  • the ability to obtain external research and development funding
  • the ability to communicate research and development work
  • the ability to teach in Swedish and/or in English.
  • Most of the employees in the subject Operation and Maintenance Engineering are currently men, which is why we would like to see female applicants.

    Period of employment For this employment, an employment period of four years applies.

    Promotion to senior lecturer An assistant senior lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to senior lecturer and a position until further notice. If the applicant is qualified for a position as senior lecturer and in an examination is deemed suitable for such a position, is determined in accordance with the assessment criteria set out below:

    In the examination, it is required that the associate senior lecturer has completed higher education pedagogical education corresponding to 7.5 credits or has acquired corresponding knowledge in another way.

    During the employment period, the associate senior lecturer must also independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality, contribute to the university's research and demonstrate good pedagogical skills.
