About University of Lethbridge

Established in 1967, the University of Lethbridge is an open research university that is associated with the International Association of Universities, U Sports, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, Canada University Press and Canada West. The university focuses on liberal education, experiential learning, co-operative programs, and inter-disciplinary research. It developed a liberal education school in 2017. Over the years, the university has grown rapidly. The number of students has increased majorly since its establishment. The logo of the university has a motto, ‘let there be light’ which means illumination that comes from both research and learning.

The campus of the institute is spread over an area of 460 acres. It provides all the facilities required by the students. The University Hall is designed and built by the famous architect, Arthur Erickson. The institution comprises a library, sports & wellness centre, environmental science building, community stadium and the centre for behavioural neuroscience. The university is home to over 100 faculty researchers in the field of chemistry, biological sciences, astronomy, physics, neuroscience, and psychology.

The institution also has a satellite campus in Calgary which offers degree programs through weekend & evening courses in health sciences and management. The university campus has several well-known research centres and institutes. The university has developed a new science and academic building within the premises, which is known to be among the most advanced facilities in Canada.

The university offers undergraduate degree programs and postgraduate degree programs. There are a total of 9,000 students at the university. The academic structure is categorized into four faculties and three schools, namely the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts & Science, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Health Science, the School of Graduate Studies, School of Liberal Education and the School of Business. Moreover, the Faculty of Arts & Science features pre-professional programs in the field of law, journalism, dentistry, nutrition, medicine, veterinary medicine, social work, and optometry. The students are guided under experienced faculty members. They are provided with ample knowledge. The faculty members also take the students for industrial visits. The university is known to have an Art Gallery with one of the largest collections in Canada. Due to its huge collections, the university decided to develop another building of the Art Gallery.
