About Federation Australia University

The origin of Federation University Australia (FedUni) can be traced back to 1870, making it the fourth oldest tertiary education institution in the country. It got its current name in 2014 after the merger of Monash University's Gippsland Campus and the University of Ballarat. They focus on making their students effective global citizens by imparting the necessary skills, aptitude, and knowledge.
The campuses are present in Ballarat, Brisbane, Berwick, Wimmera, and Gippsland. The university is known for its research, and the Sports Science research at the university is good, with Shanghai Rankings between 101 to 150 in 2017.

There are three campuses in Ballarat and the University Drive, Mt Helen campus is about 10 km away from the city center. It is built across an area of 110 hectares and caters to 4,500 students. The SMB Campus houses state-of-the-art engineering and construction facilities as well as new classrooms and computer labs. The Camp Street, Ballarat campus is known for its Arts Academy. The Gippsland campus in Churchill is located in a 60-hectare area and has science, midwifery, and nursing labs. Wimmera campus is located at 289 Baillie Street, Horsham, and boasts of specialized and modern training facilities. Situated at about 40 km from Melbourne CBD, the Berwick campus is a modern construction within spacious grounds and gardens. The Brisbane, Queensland campus offers students a chance to live, study, and enjoy a high-quality lifestyle.

Out of 40, the university is ranked 31 in Australia. As of 2018, there were a total of 14,466 local students at the university and 8,978 international students. 5,805 students were enrolled in further education (TAFE) programs. The students at FedUni have options to join more than 30 clubs and societies across all the campuses to choose from according to their interests.

There are a lot of successful alumni associated with Federation University Australia. They include geologist William Baragwanath, wheelchair basketball player Sandy Blythe, opera singer Jacqueline Dark, human rights diplomat William Roy Hodgson and artist Marcus Wills. Some of the other notable alumni from FedUni are actress Libby Tanner, Richard W Richards, who was a physicist and Antarctic explorer, sports reporter for Ten Network, Brad McEwan, and Martin Andanar, the press secretary of the Philippines under Duterte administration. Steve Moneghetti is an Olympic marathon runner who got his honorary doctorate from the University of Ballarat. The inventor of Vegemite, Dr. Cyril P. Callister, was also associated with the university.

Federation has been ranked in the top 201 - 250 young universities in the world in the prestigious Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2021. The ranking acknowledges our strong commitment to teaching, research, industry partnerships, and the international community.
