Position Summary

Resident Assistants (RAs) are residential peer leaders who serve as student members of a staff team in Residence Life. The RA position has been designed to support the University Strategic Plan and for integrated education. RAs contribute to the development of a community of scholars in their respective communities by assisting the academic and personal development of residents, and by promoting and supporting an inclusive environment in which differences are thoughtfully explored. Additionally, RAs are expected to know and uphold University policies and community standards, work collaboratively to build community, be available to mentor students, and encourage responsible citizenship in the community and on the UNTD campus.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled UNT Dallas, UNT Dallas College of Law, HSC or UNT student in good standing and making satisfactory progress toward completion of a degree or certification program and with student conduct. Applicants must possess the following:

Excellent customer service skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Critical thinking and problem solving Crisis management and response skills Some knowledge of office practices and procedures. Demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions accurately. Good interpersonal skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural and social backgrounds. Responsible, reliable and punctual. Ability to learn assigned tasks readily, to adhere to prescribed routines, and to develop some skill in the operation of common office equipment. Maintain a GPA of 2.5

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience living in a residence hall/Wisdom Hall

Required License / Registration / Certification Work Schedule

This position is considered a 20 hours/week position. Some nights and weekends will be required due to on call, camps events etc. responsibilities. Note: External commitments cannot exceed 10 hours and require supervisor approval.
