Stream, Department of Sociology – Faculty of Arts
The Department of Sociology at Brandon University invites applications for a half term position in Sociology, in the Crime and Community Stream, for the six-month period of January 1 to June 30, 2026.
The successful candidate shall provide evidence of teaching competence in Sociology, with a concentration in Criminology and/or Criminal Justice. They will be responsible for delivering a total of three courses, ranging from one large first-year introductory course, and two upper-level courses, selected from this list:
It is expected that these courses will be taught in person. In addition, the successful candidate must have an active research and publishing program, with a concentration in Criminology and/or Criminal Justice.
Qualifications: The preferred qualification for this position is a PhD in Sociology. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the doctorate and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials. ABD applicants nearing completion prior to the start date of the appointment may also be considered.
Start Date: 1 January 2026, or upon the availability of the successful candidate.
Rank and Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience
