Position Description:

The Department of Health & Human Physiology (HHP) is seeking an Assistant in Instruction with a focus on supporting the department's Exercise and Health Labs. This is a full-time, non-tenure track appointment for one academic year beginning August 2023 and is renewable. Duties of this position include teaching Metabolic and/or Musculoskeletal Exercise Testing and Prescription Laboratory, and Health and Behavioral Assessment Laboratory within the Department of Health and Human Physiology.

Education Requirement:

  • Minimum of a BA/BS degree in exercise science, health promotion, or related field.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with exercise testing and health, and/or behavioral assessment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Desirable Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ACSM, NSCA, personal training, health coaching, etc.).

  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a primary instructor of laboratory courses.

  • Flexibility in teaching other laboratory courses, including anatomy and physiology.

  • Familiarity with commonly used exercise science technology (e.g., metabolic cart, air plethysmography, force plate, etc.).

  • Familiarity with objective dietary and/or physical activity behavior assessment (e.g., activPAL, ActiGraph).
