Job description
FTC (14 weeks - 03/06/2024 to 05/09/2024 ) Full Time
Would you like to work during the summer for Edinburgh Napier University,
Student Accommodation Conference & Lettings? During the summer period,
Edinburgh Napier's city centre student flats are let out to Language Schools,
Holidaymakers, Fringe and Festival performers, Conference Delegates and Family
Groups from around the world.
We are looking to appoint a small number of people as on-site Vacation
Letting Assistants to help us ensure the smooth running of the summer
letting operation. The Vacation Assistants will be expected to provide cover
at each of the developments open during the summer. Some knowledge of
Edinburgh Napier's flat developments would be an advantage.
The Role:
To assist in managing the student end-of-lease in June duties including
removal of excess items from flats and cleaning checks.
To undertake the preparation of the flats for the summer season including
distribution of equipment, stores, bedding etc from storage to the flats.
Similarly to undertake the draw- down at the end of the season in
preparation for the students' return.
To liaise with the laundry company and ensure correct uplift and delivery
of all bed linen to the developments as required at specified times. To
ensure bedding packs are in place as ordered by customers on the day of
arrival.
To welcome summer visitors to the developments, manage the issue/return of
keys and essential flat information, and act as general point of contact
for local information.
To communicate effectively with all University departments involved in the
summer programme, including security, conference & lettings, maintenance
and finance.
To be available at the developments to assist contractors involved in pre-
planned maintenance and repair work at the end of the student leases and
to ensure that this is properly timetabled in with the cleaning of flats
before first arrivals.
This role may require some cleaning and bed making tasks to meet business
requirements.
What are we looking for:
The successful candidates must be prepared to work a flexible work pattern
and weekend working is essential.
The posts are live-in at the flat developments. Living on-site is an
essential requirement but the accommodation will be rent-free.
You will enjoy dealing and communicating with people, be able to work on
your own initiative but enjoy working as part of a team. During the set-up
and draw-down of the flats the work will be physically demanding.
Attention to detail and excellent customer care skills such as reception
duty experience are vital. These roles are essential to the successful
operation of the summer letting project.
