University Museums Group (UMG) is a membership organisation that supports and advocates for the university museum sector in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, representing the interests of university museums to funders and stakeholders.

The UMG Coordinator supports the UMG Co-Chairs and Executive committee, playing a proactive role, coordinating the activities of the Group and supporting its aims. We are seeking an individual who has excellent administrative experience with a working knowledge of the museum sector. They will be an excellent communicator and adaptable when it comes to scheduling and completing tasks. A methodical ability is sought with strong analytical skills and a positive, open-minded and pro-active approach.

In return we offer an encouraging and supportive environment both within the Museum and the wider University, generous holiday allowance, an attractive pension scheme and many employee benefits.

You will be based at the Fitzwilliam Museum, which is the principal museum of the University of Cambridge and the largest cultural venue in the region. Founded in 1816, the museum welcomes around 500,000 visitors a year and houses over half a million works of art and material culture spanning from 10,000BCE to the present day, principally from Europe, North Africa and Asia. This includes sculpture, ceramics and decorative arts, paintings, drawings, prints, illuminated manuscripts, money, literary and musical autographs and the archives of artists and others.

To help support our staff to thrive both professionally and personally, we have adopted a system of hybrid working, meaning staff are empowered to split their time between in-person collaboration and remote working. The frequency of remote working may vary due to project needs and will be subject to discussion with your line manager.
