Job Description	The Department of Communication at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Social Media and Data Analytics, beginning in the Fall Semester 2027. We seek a dedicated teacher-scholar with a teaching and research focus on social media and data analytics. We seek a candidate who demonstrates a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and the needs of a varied student body in the context of an open-enrollment public university.
Job Duties	This tenure-track position includes a full-time undergraduate/graduate teaching load of 12 hours per semester, with expectations of original publication, student advising, and participation in departmental, university, and service committees. The successful candidate should expect to teach applied and theoretical courses (face-to-face or online) at all levels of the undergraduate and master’s curricula, including General Education. Candidates should expect to teach undergraduate courses in social media communication, digital content production, digital media strategy, social analytics, data visualization, and/or big data and its application in professional contexts as needed by the department. Other teaching opportunities are available depending on willingness and experience.
Required Qualifications	Required: A Ph.D. in Communication, Mass Communication, Strategic Communication, Data Analytics, Data Science, or a terminal degree in a related field is required for appointment as Assistant Professor. ABD candidates will be considered for instructor appointment until the degree is completed. Candidates with a master’s degree and experience will be considered for an instructor appointment.
Preferred Qualifications	Preferred: Teaching experiences at the college level Professional experience in digital marketing communications, digital media content creation, and/or social media management
