  • Position Summary:

    We're hiring for NOOK, UAF's mascot. This position requires an outgoing, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual who is comfortable performing in front of large crowds and interacting with diverse audiences. NOOK will contribute to enhancing the overall atmosphere of campus events, sports games, and other promotional activities.

    Duties:

    100Mascot Performance: Portray the campus mascot at various events, games, rallies, and promotional activities. Execute choreographed routines, dances, and interactions while in costume to entertain and engage the audience. Maintain high energy and enthusiasm throughout performances to enhance the crowd's experience. Audience Interaction: Interact with fans, attendees, and participants, creating a fun and memorable experience for all. Engage in photo opportunities and pose for pictures with attendees while in character. Communicate non-verbally with the audience to convey emotions and enthusiasm. Event Promotion: Assist in promoting upcoming campus events, games, and activities by distributing flyers, posters, and other promotional materials. Participate in pre-event activities, such as parades, pep rallies, and fan meet-and-greets to generate excitement. Costume Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness and integrity of the mascot costume and related equipment. Assist in the organization and storage of mascot-related materials. Schedule and Availability: Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the schedule of events and games. Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality for all assigned performances and activities. Professionalism: Uphold a positive and respectful attitude while interacting with campus community members and visitors. Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to all guidelines and rules set forth by the institution.Essential

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: -Currently enrolled as a student at UAF -Enthusiastic, outgoing, and able to project high energy and spirit. -Comfortable performing in front of large audiences and interacting with diverse groups of people. -Physical stamina and agility to wear the mascot costume and perform physical movements. -Reliable and punctual, with the ability to commit to the demanding schedule of events. -Excellent non-verbal communication skills to convey emotions and engage with the audience. -Team player with strong interpersonal skills. -Prior experience in performing, entertaining, or mascot work is a plus but not required.

    Preferred Experience & Education:

    Any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the skills and abilities necessary to accomplish the essential functions of the job (see knowledge, skills, and abilities required above.)

    Required Experience & Education:

    Be enrolled at UAF with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or

    Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and

    Have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA, or a newly enrolled student.

    Salary Information:

    This is a student assistant position starting at $18.00/hr
