Training and Development Advisor

Job Purpose

The Learning & Development Adviser will ensure training initiatives are impactful, in line with the Estates Strategy, and tailored to meet the needs of the diverse teams across the Estates Directorate.

The postholder will liaise with stakeholders and subject matter experts to evaluate business needs, before delivering appropriate training solutions, whether that be through designing and facilitating training, signposting to available resources, or securing external training solutions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To understand and effectively assess Estates Directorate Training & Development requirements by conducting training needs analysis.

To provide expertise, leadership, and advice on learning interventions, to enhance organisational effectiveness within Estates.

Deliver training solutions which will include design and facilitation of training, and evaluation of the outcomes the training delivered.

Work with managers in different zones, functions and teams within the Estates Directorate and to compile and manage a dashboard of regulated/compliance related training, reporting on compliance across the Estates Directorate.

To create plans for stakeholder engagement at all levels and manage implementation including communication and project delivery plans.

To assist in the creation and management of a training request system within the Estates Directorate to help manage budget and ensure fair distribution across teams.

To facilitate team-based events designed to develop competence and good working practice for identified Operational teams within the Estates Directorate.

To conduct research on the latest thinking within and out with the sector focusing on People Development within an Estates Sector environment from both a Technical and Non-Technical basis.

To provide expertise in sourcing and securing external training providers through the University procurement process as and when required.

To manage a range of on-line training in the University of Glasgow Moodle system assigning version control, legislative updates and marketing of courses for the Estates Directorate

To fully create learning interventions in Moodle when required by teams in the Estates Directorate with priority given to compliance or mandatory skill-based learning.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9 (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent (including professional accreditation with relevant formal training),

and experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s) OR the ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar or number of different roles

A2 Knowledge of approaches to Learning & Development, learning styles and evaluation techniques

Desirable:

B1 CIPD Level 5 Associate L&D Specialism

B2 Project Management Qualification

B3 Knowledge of the HE Estates sector

Skills Essential:

C1Excellent interpersonal, organisation and communication skills

C2 A high degree of computer literacy and experience with LMS systems

C3 Ability to work individually or as part of a team

C4 Ability to create adult learning materials for a variety of different modes of delivery C5 Facilitation skills both in person and running virtual classrooms C6 Ability to use data to inform insights and practical organisational application e.g. use of training needs analysis

C7 Ability to manage training budgets C8 Strong analytical and problem-solving capability

Desirable:

D1 Ability to coach colleagues post learning intervention

Experience Essential:

E1 Experience of using different L&D models including 70:20:10 to build blended learning programs

E2 Experience of working through the training cycle with a range of different learning interventions designed to meet commercial needs in an organisation

E3 Experience of creating content in a digital environment

E4 Experience of working with a wide variety of stakeholders

Desirable:

F1 Procurement of learning from external partners F2 Experience of working in a HE environment

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 7, £40,247 - £45,163 per annum.

This post is full time (35 hours p/e) and open ended. Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
