We are looking to appoint a trainee engineering technician to provide support to our automotive laboratories and workshops team, covering both teaching and research activities across the faculty.
You will be responsible for providing support to staff and students as required for various research and project activities under the direct supervision of the technical supervisor and his team. Responsibilities of the role encompass engine strip, rebuild and installation, basic machining (turning, milling etc), fitting, welding, brazing and rig assembly.
As part of the automotive team, you will work with technical staff and other colleagues across the faculty to maintain and deliver a high-quality support service to the teaching and research efforts of the university's engineering departments.
About youOur ideal candidate will be:
Whilst this is a trainee position, previous experience working in an automotive environment is desirable.
A broad general knowledge of automotive applications is desirable, although training will be provided where necessary.
