  • About the Role We are looking for a highly experienced full-time Senior Research Assistant to join our exciting new research project. This role will support a prospective monitoring study of individuals with bipolar disorder, which will take place in Australia. The Australian study is part of the multi-national Wellcome- funded project, Tipping Point, managed by Swinburne's Centre for Mental Health and Brain Sciences.

    In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and conducting data collection through repeated structured clinical interviews with participants. As most participants will be remote from Swinburne, interviews will be conducted via Teams meetings. Under the close supervision of the Project Manager, you will carry out four structured clinical interviews with each participant over an 18-month period. These interviews are crucial for confirming mental health diagnoses and investigating mood changes over the preceding six months.

    In addition to data collection, your role will involve maintaining participant engagement with the study. Graduate-level expertise is essential to effectively manage relationships with vulnerable participants and ensure rigorous data collection throughout the project.

    About You To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience as a research assistant on a funded psychology research project
  • Demonstrated experience and high standard of fluency with data management platforms (e.g., Excel)
  • Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal and communication skills including resourcefulness, initiative and the ability to meet tight deadlines, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Experience engaging with people living with a mental illness
