Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Clinical Professor/Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Assistant Professor (several posts) in the Department of Anaesthesiology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 531123), to commence as soon as possible, on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second four-year fixed-term contract.
Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, with the attainment of the status as Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine or equivalent. Those with a higher academic qualification (e.g. MD, MS, PhD) would be advantageous. Applicants for the post of Clinical Professor should have a distinguished and sustained record of high-quality impactful research, as indicated by publications and competitive grants, with demonstrated clinical excellence in anaesthesia and/or pain medicine. They should have also achieved international recognition for scholarship and professional expertise; and be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to, and evidence of, excellence in teaching, curriculum development, capacity building, mentoring early career researchers and supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Applicants for the post of Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Assistant Professor should display strong clinical acumen and skills in anaesthesia and/or pain medicine, with demonstrated experience in teaching. Proven capacity to initiate and contribute to basic, clinical and/or translational research is essential.
The appointees will focus on the education of medical students, postgraduate teaching and supervision, as well as academic research. They may be assigned to discharge duties at hospital(s) and clinic(s) affiliated with HKU Health System.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. A monthly cash allowance will be offered to the successful candidate. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
