The Faculty of Education

It has assumed an important role in educational research and professional training as a major provider of teacher education programmes and has contributed significantly to education policy and development in Hong Kong with its strong expertise in policy analysis and curriculum development. The Faculty was also the first in Hong Kong to offer degree programmes that train speech therapists and audiologists for the local community. The Position

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Speech-Language Pathology in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 524689) , to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of the second three-year fixed-term contract. Exceptionally outstanding candidates at Associate Professor level may be considered for appointment on tenure terms subject to approval.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences, Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders, and a proven track record in, or strong potential for, research, scholarly publications, and competitive external funding. Applicants should also demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, and interests or records in working with a diverse student population. Those who are fluent in Cantonese and literate in written Chinese, with a clinical qualification in speech pathology, experience in providing clinical speech and language pathology services, and experience in tertiary teaching would be preferred.

The appointee will be expected to teach mainly in the speech-language pathology programme, and contribute to collaborative and interdisciplinary efforts. He/She will also supervise research postgraduate students, contribute actively to research and knowledge exchange, and assume service/administrative responsibilities as appropriate.

Applicants with an expertise in the area of pediatric and/or school-age communication disorders are preferred, but applications in other clinical areas of speech-language pathology will also be considered. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
