  • Position Summary:

    The College of Natural Science and Mathematics (CNSM) at UAF is seeking applicants for potential adjunct faculty positions. We are seeking applicants who possess a desire to help students succeed in reaching their goals. Join us and help turn student aspirations into reality!

    Duties:

    Duties will include formulating a syllabus, lecturing, writing and administering exams and quizzes, grading of exams and quizzes, and holding regular office hours.Essential

    The University of Alaska Fairbanks, College of Natural Science and Mathematics is looking for adjunct faculty/part-time instructors. The 8 units covered are Atmospheric Sciences, Biology and Wildlife, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geosciences, Natural Resource and Environment, Physics and Veterinary Medicine. Math and Statistics is a separate listing. Qualified applicants for will be placed into a hiring pool for the academic year of 2023-2024 from which needed instructors will be hired. The incumbent will be responsible for teaching one or more undergraduate courses in a manner consistent with UAF Faculty Senate guidelines and the specific course catalog description. Adjunct faculty are expected to participate in orientation activities and hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught. Duties include instructing, advising, and assessing/grading students in the identified subject matter in alignment with UAF and department policies and procedures. Duties include developing a course outline, syllabus, teaching materials, and tests or other assessment methods consistent with UAF policies and procedures.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their graduate-level academic coursework and preparation, past teaching experiences, expertise and experience relevant to the effective teaching of their specific field, and potential for providing high-quality instruction to undergraduate students in assigned courses at the College of Natural Science and Mathematics.

    Preferred Experience & Education:

    College level teaching experience preferred.

    Required Experience & Education:

    Master's degree in related field. Ph.D. preferred.

    Salary Information:

    Salary varies dependent on the number of credits, candidate education level and any prior UA teaching. Current CBA minimum is $1,268.72/credit hour.
