Technician Assistant in Biochemical Research Department of Life Sciences

Location: Lincoln Salary: From £23,144 per annum Please note, this post is fixed term until 31 July 2025, and part time at 18.5 hours per week. Closing Date: Sunday 03 March 2024 Interview Date: Thursday 14 March 2024 Reference: CHS102

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technician Assistant to join our multi- disciplinary team, primarily supporting the development of a commercial product focussed on grasses in support of equine health and welfare.

You will be responsible for conducting protocol development and research on the project, under the direction of your supervisors, and you would have the scope to operate with a significant degree of autonomy. As part of this, you will collect and process samples from field locations, develop and perform biological assays and experiments, and collate and analyse the data. Ideally, you should already have good practical laboratory experience and be able to work independently with supervision using biochemical, molecular, and microbiological techniques.

You would be able to contribute to publishable research data, and there would also be the opportunity for you to interact with equine owners, or other project stakeholders, to gather data or for knowledge exchange.

You will need to have a HNC level qualification or equivalent experience, but we would also be very interested in people with BSc or Masters level qualifications in a relevant discipline.

The University of Lincoln offers exciting career opportunities with the chance to grow and develop to reach your full potential. We also offer a wide range of staff benefits, including a generous annual leave allowance of 30 days per year pro rata (plus an additional 14 bank holiday and concessionary days), progressive pay rates, access to discounts at popular stores and more.

If you would like to have an informal discussion regarding this exciting opportunity, please contact Alex Aitken, Senior Technician, at [email protected].
