    Role

    The AudioLab, part of the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology, are seeking an audio technician to support their research and industry engagement activities on a fixed term basis until March 2029. The role will be based primarily at the AudioLab facility on the University's Science Park - a large space equipped with state-of-the art immersive audio systems, anechoic chamber, virtual reality, audio production and postproduction facilities. The main responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Managing the work area and equipment in the AudioLab space
  • Assisting staff, research students and industry partners with the design and implementation of experimental work in virtual reality, immersive audio and spatial sound
  • Facilitating demonstrations and training for colleagues, industry partners and visitors
  • Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed

    You will have:

  • An Undergraduate or Postgraduate (MSc, Meng, PhD) Degree in Audio, Acoustics, Music Technology or a related discipline
  • Knowledge and experience of working with immersive technologies, virtual reality and spatial sound
  • Experience of development in game engines (Unreal/Unity) and strong understanding of relevant languages (Matlab/C++/Python etc.)
  • Excellent communication abilities, both orally and in writing
