  • The Opportunity

    We're seeking a Technical Officer to support ground-breaking work in the NanoBiotechnology and NanoTheranostics laboratories at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases (ACBD).

    In this dynamic position, you will provide professional, high-quality technical support to researchers, contributing to the development of novel glucose-responsive insulin platforms, imaging technologies, and advanced drug delivery systems. Your responsibilities will include managing day-to-day laboratory operations, maintaining equipment, conducting experiments, and assisting with data analysis.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting experiments and managing materials, equipment, and supplies
  • Provide guidance and training on equipment use and compliance with standard protocols
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest methodologies, technologies, and data management techniques
  • Identify and resolve research-related issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conduct animal work, including diabetic mouse models and other disease models
  • Perform molecular biology and protein-related tasks such as cell culture, RT-PCR, qPCR, Western Blotting, ELISA, protein purification, and immunohistochemistry
  • Support flow cytometry (FACS) and other advanced technical processes
  • The ideal candidate will have:

  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, protein work, histology, and animal models
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning
