Technical Officer in the Safety Office (Ref.: 524550) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should have a Diploma or above in Science/Engineering or a related discipline, with at least 2 years' work experience in laboratories, workshops or general workplaces; OR 5 passes in HKCEE including English (min. Grade C if Syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007), Chinese (Level 2 from 2007) and Mathematics, or min. Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSEE including English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics, with 5 years' relevant experience. They should also have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; good communication and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work independently in a variety of settings. Proficiency in Putonghua and/ a Light Goods Vehicle driving licence will be an advantage.
The appointee will assist the Office in implementing an environmental monitoring programme on University premises; carrying out inspection, testing and problem solving of laboratory safety equipment such as Fume Cupboard and Biological Safety Cabinet. He/She will also provide advice to departments on safety matters; conduct incident/accident investigations and prepare reports; and participate in emergency responses on campus. On-the-job training will be provided.
