About the post:

The Clinical Microbiology department plays an active role in teaching at RCSI. Clinical Microbiology subjects and modules are a critical part of the undergraduate medical school curriculum, and cover a wide range of teaching formats. This role will play a central part in helping to plan, coordinate and deliver this teaching. RCSI has two major teaching sites in Dublin: the RCSI / Smurfit Education and Research Centre (ERC) at Beaumont Hospital and the RCSI campus in St. Stephens Green in the city centre.

Specifically, the duties of the post are:

• Assist the Clinical Microbiology Teaching Co-ordinator

• Support lecturers, staff and students in a professional manner

• Assist in the set-up and implementation of logistics required to support the teaching schedule

• Assist teaching colleagues to set up for lectures/ small group teaching sessions

• Communicate announcements to students, monitor student attendance and Q&A forums

• Assist in the preparation of teaching material for students with timely posting to the VLE

• Aid in the preparation and coordination of examinations

• Manage MOODLE on behalf of the Clinical Microbiology department

• Engage with and respond to student/ staff correspondence

• Create and maintain electronic filing systems

• Prepare reports, PowerPoint presentations and other services where necessary

• Undertake other appropriate duties as assigned by the Clinical Microbiology administrative colleagues or Head of Department or nominee

• Comply with statutory legislation and department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff and student welfare and safety

• Undergo programmes of training and development as may be required

• Represent the best interests of the Department/RCSI at all times
