Teaching Associate in the History of Science (Fixed Term)

Applications are invited for a 1-year post in the history of science. The duties of this post will include lectures, supervisions, examining, and administrative duties for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Department. The post-holder should be prepared to teach and supervise a broad range of topics in the history of early modern and/or medieval science and technology. The position will start on 1 September 2024 and will include an initial 3-month probationary period. The completion of a PhD (or equivalent) is required before the start date.

Candidates will be asked to give a 15-minute presentation on how they would teach a topic of their choice in the history of early modern and/or medieval science or technology for undergraduates who may not have a background in this area, and to take part in a 40-minute interview.

Terms and conditions The appointment is fixed term for one year, subject to completion of a probationary period of 3 months. The salary range for a Teaching Associate is £33,966 to £44,263 per year. The person appointed will be eligible for membership of the USS Pension Scheme. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check).
