Teaching Assistant

The Yale-China Chinese Language Centre is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant for Putonghua. The appointee will: (i) conduct tutorial activities for Putonghua courses; (ii) oversee student helpers within the tutorial programme; (iii) assist in administrative work related to the tutorial programme; (iv) answer students' questions via email and during in-person sessions; (v) collect student feedback for programme evaluation purposes; and (vi.) perform other tasks related to the programme.
Applicants must (a) possess native or near-native competence in Putonghua and written Chinese, as well as a good command on written and spoken English; (b) understand the field of teaching Chinese as a second language; (c) be familiar with and able to use teaching software and relevant learning technologies; (d) have excellent communication skills and time management; (e) hold a bachelor's degree, preferably in Linguistics, Chinese Language and Literature, Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, or another related field.
Applicants who hold a relevant master's degree or have relevant classroom experience will be given priority.
