The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.

Department

Student Systems is a department of just over 20 people providing IT Services and Support for a number of IT systems designed to aid the administration of the student lifecycle, from application to degree ceremony. Student Systems includes a first line service desk who receive incidents for resolution or triage to technical teams for resolution. Student Systems is also responsible for the development of existing systems or delivering new systems and has a range of business analysts, developers and testers to support these activities.

Student Systems is seeking to appoint a Functional Developer working within the team working on various IT services, primarily SITS/eVision which support student administrative activities.

About the Role

The Functional Developer is a member of the 2nd line/functional development team within the Student Systems supporting various student centred IT services. The prime system is built on SITS Vision/eVision and the purpose of this post is to contribute to the configuration and customisation of this and the other IT student services for the University of Oxford. The service supports a wide range of business processes associated with the management and support of student administration across the collegiate University. The post holder will be required to assist in the resolution of technical incidents escalated from the 1st Line support team, resolve bugs and technical problems and also contribute to the development of new functionality within the system.

About You

The successful candidate will be a strong problem solver who uses a combination of strong technical skills, subject matter experience, and analytical insight to investigate, resolve, and deliver a wide range of incidents, problems, changes, and enhancements across multiple business areas. The post-holder works as part of a wider team of analysts and developers and has extensive interaction with service users across the University. Experience of using database management systems (e.g. SQL), HTML and CSS in a development and or technical support role is essential whilst knowledge of SITS is desirable.

Application Process

You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement and CV in PDF format as well as the details of two referees as part of your online application.

The closing date for applications is 12noon on 28 May 2024.

Interviews will take place during week commencing 10 June 2024 and will be held in person.
