  • About the Department

With over 15,000 readers our Library at Goldsmiths is at the heart of academic life and the student experience. We have a strong culture of delivering reliable, high-quality services, resources and support to all departments and visitors, and we are passionate about continually innovating, developing, and improving our offer.

    About the Role

We are proud of our highly skilled, collaborative staff and unique resources, which enable us to support our community in learning, teaching, scholarship, and research. As Subject Librarian you will ensure liaison and business relationship management for all Goldsmiths academic departments and faculties and flexibly support all subjects and disciplines.

While the majority of your role will focus on supporting departments you will also be required to support the wider delivery of Library services. We're currently looking for a subject librarian with expertise in Law, Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship, Management Studies, Media and Communications and Sociology, though please note that the team work flexibly to ensure continuous support for all departments so the subjects you look after may change over time.

    About the Candidate

We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic person to fill this varied and exciting role. The post will suit an organised individual who has a real interest in people and who enjoy challenges.

To be successful in this role you will be an engaging teacher and a supportive team member. You will have a passion for learning, excellent communication and negotiation skills and a resourceful and resilient nature.

With a Library and Information Science qualification or equivalent skills and knowledge, you will have experience designing and delivering information, critical and emotional literacies, research, study and digital skills using Critical Information Literacy approaches, while utilising appropriate technologies.

This is permanent, full time position 35 hours per week.

    Benefits

We have generous benefits – an agile working environment, 28 days' annual leave plus 6 paid closure days (4 at Christmas and 2 at Easter) plus all Bank Holidays, great transport links, a defined benefit pension scheme, support for professional development, and a broad range of wellbeing initiatives such as staff choir, running club, and creative writing classes.
