Job Summary/Basic Function

Tutors must have earned a B+ or higher in the courses they tutor. The Tutoring Center is hiring students for individual and/ or group tutoring in the following subject areas (subject to change):

  • Art and Design
  • Communication & Theatre
  • English (except 010 or 100)
  • Government & Political Affairs
  • History
  • Latino/a Studies
  • Mathematics (for students registered with the Office of Learning Services)
  • Social Work
  • Wellness & Sport Sciences
  • Women's and Gender Studies
  • Required Qualifications

  • Refer to “Job Description” for tutor responsibilities for group and individual tutoring.
  • Tutors must have earned a B+ or higher in the courses they tutor.
  • Preferred Qualifications Job Duties

    Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Contacting individual tutees and arranging sessions.
  • Maintaining records for group tutoring sessions.
  • Preparing for tutoring sessions.
  • Promptly reporting hours, tutee attendance and other information as needed via email to the Tutoring Center and Learning Services.
  • Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Be able to sit and work with students during entire tutoring session.

  • Previous experience is not required. After successfully completing 10 hours of tutoring, we offer Tutor Training Level 1 and Level 2 to tutors. Tutors are paid to attend the training and will receive an hourly wage increase upon successful completion of each level.
