    The Student Information team in Student Support is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated individual to join the team, to contribute to the key area of providing a welcoming, professional and effective front of house service in the Student Hub.

    The Student Hub is the central point of contact for students, staff and external agencies for access to an extensive range of professional and specialist advice and support services for students. The team works collaboratively with colleagues across Student and Academic Services and the wider University, ensuring access to services aimed at working with students to develop strategies to overcome challenges and enable them to succeed academically and in their wider lives.

    Role

    Hours of work - 0.6 fte 22.2 hours per week, Monday - Wednesday, (non- negotiable) Fixed term until January 2025

    You will play a key role in providing a professional, effective and welcoming front of house service, ensuring exceptional customer focussed standards are delivered at all times. You will manage queries relating to student incidents and emergencies sensitively, promptly, accurately and effectively, eliciting information and treating all queries confidentially and in accordance with University procedures.

    You will work with all sections of Student and Academic Services and other appropriate professional services to keep up to date with University policies and procedures and ensure that accurate and appropriate information and guidance is delivered to students at all times, making certain that each enquiry is seen through to its conclusion by the University.

    Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
  • Level 2 qualification including Maths and English. (Qualifications at this level include five GCSEs at grade A-C/ grade 4-9. Please view the full list). We also welcome applicants with equivalent non-uk qualifications or equivalent professional experience
  • Thorough knowledge of administrative procedures and processes used in a busy office within a large complex organisation
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including GDPR
  • Understanding of the needs of those studying and working in an HE environment
  • Ability to effectively organise and prioritise own work and follow procedures and to work under pressure to a high standard, to tight deadlines
  • Ability to deal with issues of confidentiality appropriately and to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in sensitive situations
  • Ability to respond appropriately to students who may be vulnerable, ill or distressed
  • Use digital technologies including Google applications and/or Microsoft Office and knowledge of using social media platforms
