Recruitment and Retention

Brandon University seeks an energetic and dynamic professional to serve as a full-time Student Success Officer in a continuing appointment. Reporting to the Director of Recruitment and Retention, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in the recruitment and retention of students. The position requires extensive travel, which may be up to 4-5 days per week during specific times of year. Duties for the Student Success Officer include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and deliver the University's domestic off-campus recruitment campaign
  • Coordinate and participate in career symposiums, in-school recruitment presentations and career fairs, and extended travel with recognized recruiting organizations
  • Develop and deliver the University's domestic on-campus recruitment campaign (e.g., Student for a Day program, campus tours, and larger campus events)
  • Meet with domestic prospective students and parents about programs, services, and application procedures at Brandon University
  • Provide and deliver accurate information and advice to domestic students by keeping informed of all relevant University programs, policies, and procedures
  • Provide direct support for transition to University initiatives (e.g., orientation and student leader programs)
  • Participate in first year advising, including scheduled meetings with students for first year advising appointments
  • Provide direct support for the University retention initiatives
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the Director of Recruitment and Retention through consultation with the incumbent.
  • Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree is required, and two years of related experience is preferred. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the Bachelor's degree and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required, including public speaking. The successful candidate must possess a valid driver's license. Experience working in secondary or post-secondary education is an asset. Experience in planning and carrying out events is also considered an asset.
