Job Purpose

As a member of the School Professional Services Leadership Team, you will work in partnership with stakeholders on the effective implementation of the School's Leaming & Teaching strategy with a specific focus on the delivery of student recruitment targets, internationalisation opportunities and teaching portfolio development.

A key deliverable of the role will be to support the achievement of the School's student growth ambition, ensuring effective operationalisation of recruitment and conversion activity and leading the School's admissions process in partnership with the University's External Relations function.

You will inform the future shape of the School's portfolio and develop key partnership and mobility opportunities to support growth and raise the profile of the School.

In pursuit of service excellence, you will lead and contribute to a number of School, College and University projects.

The role reports directly to the Head of Professional Services within the School.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Key professional services lead working with colleagues across the School, College and External Relations in support of the delivery of the School's student recruitment targets. Responsible for ensuring the relevant student conversion plans are effectively operationalised and, as the owner of the student admissions process for the School, identify and implement key opportunities to improve both process efficiency and quality of decision- making.

2. To inform and enable the School's Internationalisation Strategy. Develop with senior colleagues key international partnerships to support diversification of recruitment, profile raising and student/staff mobility opportunities. The post-holder will lead in ensuring adherence to the relevant University partnership compliance framework and effective operationalisation, including a review process to ensure these collaborations continue to deliver on the strategic objectives of the School and College more broadly.

3. Support the delivery of the School's internationalisation strategy through effective relationship management, networking and opportunity development.

4. Develop and maintain key external partnerships that will inform the future shape of the School's Leaming & Teaching portfolio.

5. Leverage domestic and international external partnerships to enhance the School's current Leaming & Teaching portfolio.

6. A senior contributor and overall project manager responsible for reviewing and assessing the current Leaming & Teaching portfolio. Management of the programmes and courses approvals process, working with colleagues across the School, College and External Relations to ensure the portfolio continues to be attractive to the student market and deliver the School's strategic student growth objectives.

7. To inform the University's Income Growth Working Group, the post-holder will hold responsibility in the provision of relevant analytical insight and trends analysis on the School's portfolio, tracking progress in the delivery of sustainable student growth.

8. Develop with senior colleagues key international partnerships to support increased student and staff mobility opportunities through facilitating greater opportunities in international initiatives with both academic partners & corporate entities.

9. Key professional services lead in identifying, with reference to Leaming & Teaching and Internationalisation, key opportunities to improve the School's external rankings performance, including competitor benchmarking and delivery towards the relevant University KPI's.

10. Lead and develop a high-performing professional services team to ensure the delivery of an effective support service across the School Student Recruitment team.

11. Senior contributor within the School's Professional Services team in our ambition to deliver service excellence.

12. Develop, with senior academic colleagues, our connections with practice across all parts of our economy - public, private and third sector - and to co-create opportunities for students, staff and our partners. Pursue external engagement opportunities to enhance the School's reputation at local, national and international levels.

13. In partnership with senior colleagues, develop a robust framework to support compliance with relevant accreditation bodies and quality assurance processes.

14. Deputise for the Head of Professional Services for the School as appropriate.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9, (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4), or equivalent and personal development experience in a similar or related role(s). OR Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of the post having acquired the necessary knowledge and management skills in a similar or number of different roles.

A2 Sound knowledge of the Higher Education sector with reference to student recruitment, partnership development and potential sector challenges.

A3 Knowledge of Lean/process improvement and project management.

A4 Knowledge of governance and business processes in a large complex organisation.

Desirable:

B1 Good knowledge of University funding and governance arrangements.

B2 Broad knowledge of financial management within a budgetary control framework.

C1 Excellent communications and presentational skills.

C2 Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly influencing, negotiation and diplomacy.

C3 Highly effective leadership skills as a strategic business partner working across organisational boundaries in successfully delivering strategic objectives.

C9 Ability to develop and implement operational plans to support strategic initiatives.

C10 Excellent ability to empower and motivate others to deliver a high- performance service culture in a participative manner.

Experience

Essential:

E1 Extensive and recent administrative management/leadership role in a large complex organisation.

E2 Extensive and recent experience in a business partner role working with senior staff to formulate, develop and implement strategic objectives.

E3 Extensive experience in providing analytical insight to inform high-quality decision-making.

E4 Proven track record in effective project management and process improvement.

E5 Experience in higher education marketing and or student recruitment role.

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 7, £39,347 - £44,263 per annum.

This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended (permanent).
