As a Student Disability and Inclusion Support Coordinator you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering specialist disability support for students to help ensure they are able to access all aspects of university life.

Working closely with the Disabled Student Inclusion Team Leader and a team of Student Disability and Inclusive Support Coordinators, you will have responsibility for specific support areas but will also work as part of a team to ensure the timely delivery of all support. The support programmes include, but would not be limited to:

  • Supporting students to access the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA).
  • Liaising with external providers of support to put in place recommendations made in students' Needs Assessment Reports.
  • Have an oversight of the provision of Assistive Technology Software that is available to students.
  • Supporting activities which relate to the transition of first year disabled students into university.
  • Meeting with students to provide advice on how to access student support.
  • Responding to student queries related to disability and inclusion, via email and phone.
  • Other projects as required through identifying students' needs.
  • The role will combine both project work as well as the opportunity to work directly with students. You will work as part of our Student Disability and Inclusion team and will need to build relationships effectively with a range of internal and external partners.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to communicate clearly with students in a variety of ways.
  • Strong coordinating and administrative skills.
  • Problem solving skills to introduce new ways of working.
  • Experience of managing a fluctuating and often demanding workload.
  • Please note that occasional weekend working is required to support University events such as, Open Days, Welcome events, transition to university activities and graduation.

The role can accommodate hybrid working in line with the needs of the service, but please be aware that a full-time member of staff would usually work 3 days on campus and 2 days remotely. The role involves working in an open-plan office when on campus.
